The talks came after Russia and U.S. agreed in recent discussions to convene an international conference to discuss Syria and try to put an end to the crisis there.
 

This is while that the UK government is pushing for lifting an EU-imposed arms embargo against Syria to enable it to sell heavy weaponry to foreign-backed terrorists fighting the popular government of President Bashar al Assad. 
 

However, Putin and Cameron sought to find consensus on bringing an end to the bloody conflict in Syria.
 

"Above all, I have come here with the view, that I know you share, that a stronger British-Russian relationship can make our people both safer and our economies more prosperous," Cameron told the Russian leader.
 

Putin had also said earlier that the Syrian crisis would be on the agenda of his talks with the British Premier.
 

Earlier this week, during a meeting in Moscow, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov pledged to organize a conference by the end of May in an attempt to end the civil war in Syria.
 

Britain has played a major role in fanning the flames of unrest in Syria by arming and training terrorists fighting the Syrian government.
 

Damascus has repeatedly said that the chaos which began in March 2011 is being orchestrated from outside the country.
 

Moreover, there are reports that a very large number of the armed terrorists are foreign nationals.
