Iraqi security forces have arrested a man who had hidden an explosive belt in a TV to detonate it in a security checkpoint in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul.

The man had brought his wife and children along with him to deceit police but security forces were able to find the explosive device hidden in a TV in his car.

Today, five car bombs struck in predominantly Shiite cities and districts in central and southern Iraq, killing dozens of people.

Since last Tuesday and including the latest deaths, at least 218 people have been killed in attacks and battles between gunmen and security forces that began with clashes at a protest camp in northern Iraq.

Iraq has been witnessing a bloody unrest since last Tuesday with deadly clashes between security forces and militants in north of Iraq.
