The Syrian permanent envoy to the UN says his country is ready to cooperate with the United Nations to uncover the reality behind the violence in Syria far from politicization.

"While we support all efforts exerted to put an end to all forms of sexual violence in case of armed conflicts and punishing the perpetrators,” Addressing Bashar al-Jaafari said in a speech to the open session of the UN Security Council on sexual violence in conflicts across the globe.

“We call for caution and objectivity in approaching this dangerous humanitarian issue," SANA news Agency quoted Jaafari as saying.

Al-Jaafari also dismissed a report by the UN Secretary-General Representative on sexual violence in Syria and said it lacked efficient data and could not be considered as a professional work.

He said the report depended on the International Fact-Finding Committee's report for 2012-2013, which was politicized as it rejected hundreds of documents provided by Syrian government on the crimes of the armed terrorist groups.

Al-Jaafari noted that the committee depended on unofficial reports prepared by opposition groups and enemy information sources, and the authors have not even visited Syria up until now.

The envoy pointed out that Syria is looking forward to a visit of the Secretary-General's representative, considering it as the start of the best way for cooperation and reaching correct information on sexual violence carried out by the armed terrorist groups against the Syrian people.
