In an interview with Al-Alam news channel, Mohammad Ahmadian said Bushehr nuclear power plant has been built to resist quakes with the magnitude of at least 8 in Richter scale.
Assessing the impact of quake on Bushehr power plant, Ahmadian said the epicenter of the quake was about 100Km away from the power plant, thus naturally, no problem would be caused for the power plant.
Referring to the wrong propaganda launched by some Arab countries of the Persian Gulf about the security of Bushehr plant, Ahmadian noted that as the epicenter of quake has been far away; so it cannot be a real test of the plant security and capabilities.
However he added that the quake was an indication that the power plant would face no severe problem once such a natural event happens.
He also pointed out that the plant has been built in accordance with the most advanced international standards.
He said all stages of the construction are complied with these standards and Iran’s “Immunity System Organization” supervised by IAEA, has also overseen the security of the power plant.
Ahmadian also stressed that the nuclear industry is a critical industry, whose different activities and conditions are overseen by different centers.
“It is impossible to operate the power plant under unfavorable security situations. This is true also about Bushehr power plant. This is a guarantee for the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf that Bushehr power plant would pose no security threat to them,” he explained.
