Iran has tabled concrete proposals in fresh round of comprehensive talks with the G5+1 in Almaty, Kazakhstan in a show of goodwill for talks to bear desirable results.

Undersecretary of Iran Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Baqeri made the comments at a press conference following first round of talks on Friday.

Bagheri said Iran has offered the group “clear proposals to launch a new round of cooperation” between the two sides.

“The proposals were presented using the framework that was outlined [during a previous round of talks] in Moscow,” he added.

Iran and the G5+1 grouping including Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US plus Germany, are engaging in the second round of talks in Almaty.

“Iran believes that what is referred to as a confidence-building step, or the measures both sides should agree upon and undertake, is part of the comprehensive solution…,” Baqeri noted.

The Iranian official noted that the talks will continue on Saturday, if necessary, for the two sides to exchange views to create a new context for cooperation.

Iran, as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

The Iranian delegation in Almaty talks is headed by Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili, and the EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, represents the G5+1 grouping.
