Bangladeshi police forces fired rubber bullets to disperse opposition protesters who were demonstrating against prosecution of a number of “Jemaa Islamia” (Islamic Congregation) party members, Al Alam News Channel reported.

Jemma Islamia of Bangladesh had called for a nation-wide strike in protest at accusing the party’s main authorities of war crimes.

The party’s officials have been accused of having committed war crimes during the Independence war against Pakistan.

Many schools and private trade centers have remained closed due to the unrest and strikes.
