(tasnim) -- Iran has been providing the Palestinian resistance with genuine and pivotal support, Deputy Head of Hamas' Political Bureau Saleh al-Arouri said, stressing that Iran has never stopped such backing.

Voicing Hamas’ emphasis on national unity and reconciliation in Palestine, the official said Hamas is even ready to make concessions to help domestic reconciliation, but stressed that such concessions would not entail abandoning resistance, which would serve the interests of the Zionist regime.

Arouri also decried the US and Israel for hindering the reconciliation process in Palestine, saying lingering disagreement among Palestinian groups would serve the interests of Washington and the Tel Aviv regime.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has on various occasions described the issue of Palestine as the paramount political subject in the Muslim world, slamming the US, Israel, and reactionary regimes for seeking to foment division and wars within the Muslim community.

Earlier this month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in a telephone conversation with Chairman of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh.
