(tasnim) -- “Both Bahraini Shiite and Sunni people will remain loyal to the Palestinian cause,” the Bahrain’s main opposition party Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society announced in a statement released Sunday, Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen TV Network reported.
Al-Wefaq slammed the move by the Bahraini delegation to visit the occupied lands, noting that the delegation do not represent Bahraini nation.
“We support the Palestinian nation’s intifada and the protest movements in defense of Palestine in the Arab and Islamic Ummah and across the world,” the Bahraini Shiite party said.
Al-Wefaq also described Manama's efforts for normalizing ties with Israel as an ‘ultimate betrayal’.
A report in the Times of Israel on Sunday said a group called ‘This Is Bahrain’ have visited the occupied lands and would stay there for four days.
Media reports said that the Palestinian people have prevented the Bahraini delegation’s visit to al-Aqsa mosque.
Documents released by WikiLeaks in 2011 highlighted Bahrain's contacts with Israel "at the intelligence/security level" and indicated that this Arab country was "willing to move forward in other areas.”
The visit of the Bahraini delegation comes as protests continue to rage in the occupied Palestinian territories and around the world over a decision by US President Donald Trump to recognize al-Quds as the capital of Israel.
