(tasnim) -- In a meeting with the president of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives in Tehran on Saturday, Ali Shamkhani denounced the widespread military, financial and logistical supports that certain regional and Western countries have provided for terrorist groups.
“The incidents in Europe in recent days revealed that the instrumental use of terrorism by some countries in Iraq and Syria has made it (terrorism) uncontrollable and has led to the spread of this ominous phenomenon in the heart of Europe,” Shamkhani said, one day after an attack on a train at a London Underground station, claimed by the Isis terrorist group, injured dozens of people.
He further took a swipe at US officials for their belligerent language when talking about Iran, saying such hostile attitudes or anti-Iran media propaganda could by no means affect Iran’s policies toward regional issues or its defense programs.
The increasing number of visits to Iran by foreign officials and trade delegations indicates that American politicians have no proper understanding of the world’s enthusiasm for trade and economic interaction with Iran, Shamkhani added.
Siegfried Bracke, for his part, hailed Iran as the pillar of stability in the region and praised its leading role in the fight against terrorism.
He also noted that Iran and Belgium can open a new chapter in their relations by developing the great potential for mutual cooperation.
Heading a parliamentary delegation, Bracke has met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani during his stay in Tehran.
