Tehran, Doha to tighten economic ties

An export official said Qatar was eager to by Iranian products and was holding talks on expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.

(MNA) -- Managing Director of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran for Agriculture Products Exports, Mahmoud Bazari, made the remarks at a meeting to review agriculture market held in the wake of the trip taken by head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran to Qatar.

The meeting aimed to discuss ways to maintain economic relations, trade development, agreements between both sides and political and economic conditions, he said.

Referring to hurdles faced by economic activists as regards transportation of goods in the Persian Gulf, he urged Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) to provide suitable capacities to promote maritime transportation. Bazari also called for facilitation of goods transport through air by allocating necessary budgets to the issue by Management and Planning Organization of Iran (MPO).

He also pointed to banking relations and agreements as important noting “agreements need to be formed between Iranian and Qatari banking systems.”

“Necessary steps should also be taken in order to facilitate trade visa issuance for Iranian firms,” highlighted the official appreciating the efforts made by Iran’s Embassy in the Persian Gulf littoral country.

Mahmoud Bazari, while inviting capable export companies to participate in goods shipment to Qatar, expressed hope that professional traders will reach a suitable competitive mechanism in exports to target markets.

The meeting was held with the attendance of Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Mojtaba Khosrotaj, Iranian Ambassador to Qatar Sobhani and Managing Director of Iran International Exhibition Company Hossein Esahbodi.
