The Syrian army forces repelled the ISIS terrorists' massive attacks against their positions East of Tadmur (Palmyra) in Homs province, military sources said, adding that clashes have resumed near the two oil-rich regions of al-Mahr and al-Sha'er.

“Intense Russian raids since last night forced ISIS (Daesh) out of Palmyra” hours after the terrorists briefly re-entered the city, said the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Sunday.

The Observatory head, Rami Abdel Rahman, said a large number of ISIS militants were killed in the Russian airstrikes, without providing a precise figure.

On Thursday, ISIS began an offensive to regain a foothold in Palymra months after the Syrian army liberated the city from the terror group.
