Russian airstrikes on the infrastructure and oil facilities of the Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL , IS and Daesh) have taken their toll, thus reducing ISIS oil black market sales by upwards of 70% if one is to believe a report released by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

While United States Claims its coalitopn airstrikes primarily target ISIS leadership and command centers, the Kremlin has opted for applying long-term pressure on the Islamic State economy and logistics.

In turn, the increasingly empty coffers of Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi's caliphate have greatly weakened the terror group's battlefield capabilities and subsequently, helped to shrink its territory.
