The ISIL tried to penetrate into al-Amal, al-Jubeileh and al-Sanaeh regions in Deir Ezzur by prevailing over the government forces' positions in the city, but the attack was forcefully pushed back by the Syrian army units deployed in the regions; FNA reported.
Abu Mohajer Maghrebi, a notorious ISIL commander, was among the several terrorists killed in the clashes near the village of al-Mariyeh in the surrounding areas of Deir Ezzur airport.
The Syrian army also destroyed three ISIL military vehicles in the battle in Deir Ezzur city.
On Friday, the Syrian fighter jets pounded ISIL's military positions in a neighborhood Southwest of Deir Ezzur city.
The Syrian warplanes hit hard the ISIL terrorists' gathering centers in the surrounding areas of Regiment 137 and Al-Arfi neighborhood some 7.4 kilometers to the North of Deir Ezzur Airbase, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.
Meantime, the Syrian army units targeted and destroyed the terrorists' military positions in the surrounding areas of Deir Ezzur Airbase on Friday.
On Thursday, the Syrian army forces, using missile and artillery fire, clashed with the ISIL terrorists in Deir Ezzur city, killing and wounding dozens of militants.
"The clashes erupted in the district of Roshdiyeh in Deir Ezzur city, where the two sides used different light and heavy weapons," a field source said.
"The army targeted the terrorists' positions and gathering centers in Roshdiyeh," the source said, adding that tens of militants were killed in the army's artillery and missile fire.
