Also, the Syrian army stormed the strongholds of Fatah al-Sham (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in Khan al-Sheih in Western Damascus, claiming the lives of several militants and destroying their machinegun-equipped vehicles.

On Friday, the Syrian army continued its military advances in Eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus, and seized back more regions.

The army units pushed deeper inside al-Reihan farms and took more areas along the factories road in Eastern Ghouta, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

"The Syrian army units foiled an attempt by the terrorists to attack their military positions in Eastern Ghouta," a military source further added.

Meantime, the Syrian fighter jets raided the terrorists' military positions in the town of Douma in Damascus countryside.
