"The terrorist groups have sustained major losses in the battlefronts as the Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters are hunting them down in different villages and town of Easter Ghouta," the sources said.
"Tens of terrorists have been killed and dozens more have been injured in heavy clashes with the Syrian troops in Eastern territories of Damascus in the recent days as the army conducted massive assaults to win back more villages and towns in the region," the sources added.
Reports said earlier today, following the significant advances of the government forces East of Damascus, tens of militants laid down their arms and turned themselves in to the Syrian officials.
"Dozens of the Takfiri terrorists in Zabdean region surrendered to the Syrian government as the forces loyal to the Syrian President Bashar Assad continue gaining ground across Eastern Ghouta," the sources said.
A report said on Friday that the Syrian army managed to seize back over a dozen villages in heavy clashes with the Takfiri terrorists in Eastern Ghouta.
A sum of 13 villages covering an area of 40 square kilometers is now under the Syrian army's control, battlefield sources announced.
The Takfiri terrorists of Ahrar al-Sham, Faylaq al-Rahman and Jeish al-Islam were driven back by the Syrian army from Bayadh Shaba'a, Zabdean, Harasta al-Qantara, Bazina, Deir al-Assafir, Arz al-Nahasiya, Hosh al-Homsi, al-Rakabiyeh, Arz al-Shartout, Arz al-Kasar, al-Azodiya, Nouleh and Bala al-Qadima.
The Syrian army managed to maintain the security of Damascus Airport and the road leading to Zeiynabiyeh region; FNA reported.
