Russian President Vladimir Putin says Turkey's decision to down the fighter jet was a "huge mistake".

Russia has accused Turkey of shooting down a jet on the Turkish border to protect its alleged oil trade with ISIS.

Speaking at international talks on climate change in Paris, Russian President Vladimir Putin called President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's decision to authorise downing the plane a "huge mistake".

Turkey has denied any ties to ISIS and is part of a US-led coalition carrying out air strikes against the militant group.

The Turkish government has refused to apologise for the plane crash.

One Russian pilot was killed and the other rescued from the crash on 24 November.

Putin's comments come on the same day the body of Lt Col Oleg Peshkov was brought back to Russia after his remains were received by Turkish authorities at the Syrian border.

A second Russian pilot was rescued.

Russia announced a raft of economic sanctions against Turkey following the shooting last Tuesday.

The Kremlin website said the measures would affect imports of some Turkish products, operations of Turkish companies in Russia, and employment of Turkish staff by Russian firms. Mirror reported.
