“Japanese firms can start extensive operations in Iran,” Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida stated in a meeting with Iranian Minister of Industry.

By preparing conditions for implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) the Japanese firms can have active and remarkable presence in Iran, Kishida said during his meeting with Iran's Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh.

Kishida, who arrived in Iran on Monday, said the Japanese government supports the presence of its firms in Iran and added that presence of such companies will help develop bilateral relations.

Kishida and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Monday struck an agreement on a bilateral investment pact.

The two foreign ministers said in a joint news statement that they have agreed to set up a council for Japan-Iran cooperation to discuss a variety of issues ranging from economic cooperation to the environment and medical care.

They also agreed to enhance cooperation on swiftly implementing Iran’s nuclear deal, reached in July with six world powers.

On July 14, Iran and world's six major powers known as the Group 5+1 (the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany) concluded over a decade-long negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear activities which led to the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA); IRNA reported.
