Head of the main operations directorate of the Russian General Staff Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov has reported that Russia had in advance agreed with the partners on launching the Kalibr cruise missiles on terrorist facilities in Syria.
The missiles were launched from warships in the South-western part of the Caspian Sea, Itar-Tass reported.
"On October 5 and 6, our intelligence in Syria detected a number of important militants’ facilities that should be immediately destroyed," Kartapolov said, adding that "long-range cruise missiles were used for their destruction."
"We had reached an agreement in advance with our partners on making the cruise missile strikes," the official said.
Kalibr cruise missiles strike ISIL targets in Syria with precision of up to 3 meters.
Kalibr cruise missiles launched by ships of the Russian Navy’s Caspian Flotilla strike facilities of the ISIL terrorist organization in Syria with precision of up to three meters, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
It was reported yesterday that four ships fired 26 Kalibr cruise missiles at ISIL positions on the Syrian territory.
"Cruise missiles successfully struck all targets," the defense ministry said. "The precision of striking targets at long range did not exceed three meters," the ministry added; FNA reported.
