Iranian Deputy of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian rejected Kuwaiti media accusations linking Iran to a terror cell, calling the charges as "baseless".
Noting that a systematic campaign is underway to harm relations between neighboring states, Amir-Abdollahian underlined that Kuwait security and stability is Iran's security.
He voiced hope that Kuwaiti leaders prevent the systematic campaign of certain Kuwaiti media against Iran through taking wise actions against the ongoing allegations.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed also its deep sorrow over the mentioning of Iran in an internal case in Kuwait that is basically related to the discovery of weapons and ammunition, the diplomatic mission said in a statement Thursday.
Kuwait charged 24 people, including one Iranian, on Tuesday, with espionage and smuggling explosives, as well as possessing firearms and ammunition with the intention of carrying out acts of aggression against the state. The trial of the alleged cell is expected on September 15 in Kuwait's lower court; MNA reported.
