A group of university students staged a rally in front of the parliament on Sunday, calling on lawmakers to “thoroughly review” the text of the nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, IRNA reports.

The protesters held up placards with slogans including “Majlis has the final say” and urged Parliament to review the deal as soon as possible and put it to the vote, Tehran based English newspaper, Iran Daily, reported.

The demonstrators also chanted anti-American slogans.

During the protest, Lawmaker Zohreh Tabibzadeh addressed the crowd. She claimed that redlines set by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei were crossed in the course of nuclear talks which were wrapped up on June 14 with Iran and the P5+1 reaching a final agreement.

Earlier, senior negotiator Abbas Araqchi said it would not be in the interest of the country if the Majlis reviewed and ratified the deal because this would make voluntary measures stipulated in the agreement mandatory for Iran.
