Two suspected militants were killed Monday in clashes with police in the Istanbul district of Sultanbeyli following a suspected suicide attack on the police station in the area, the Dogan news agency reported.

Clashes had raged overnight following the attack on the police base, which left 10 people wounded including three police. The suspected affiliation of the slain militants was not made clear.

Monday Morning two attackers opened fire on the U.S. consulate building in Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul and fled when police shot back, broadcaster CNN Turk said, as cited by Reuters.

The Cihan news agency said those involved in the attack on the building in Istanbul's Sariyer district included one man and one woman, Reuters reports.

CNN Turk said there were no casualties.
