Speaking in a Saturday meeting with ambassadors of Muslim countries here in Tehran, Larijani highlighted the role of "certain powerful countries" in the emergence of terrorist groups, adding that they are behind the crises in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

He said it is regrettable that such crises prevent Muslim states from saving their energy to counter the Zionist regime of Israel.

"Today, many Islamic countries are suffering from the ominous phenomenon of terrorism, and the energy and power that the Islamic Ummah (community) should spend on Palestine and supporting its people has been wasted on internal conflicts," he explained.

Larijani further urged Islamic nations to settle their differences and unite against Israel, saying, "History has shown that conflicts among the Islamic Ummah serve the interests of colonialists."

In similar remarks last year, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had also warned that the enemies of Islam are attempting to divert attention from the issue of Palestine, cautioning that the enemies aim to trigger civil wars in the Muslim countries, to aggravate rifts and to promote Takfiri and extremist beliefs in order to achieve their vicious purpose.

The growing trend in religious differences among Muslims and internal skirmish in the Islamic nations over the past few years has been indeed the global tyrants' reaction to a surge in the Islamic awakening movements, the Leader stated at the time.
