On nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 of world powers, Zarif Said, 'We've said from the beginning that agreement and sanctions do not go with each other and according to the framework we reached in Lausanne, the sanctions should be lifted simultaneously with the implementation of agreements.'
On what is happening in US Congress and disputes between two political parties over nuclear agreement, Zarif said, 'US government is responsible for implementation of any agreement and their internal wrangles do not concern us and according to international laws, domestic problems of countries do not exempt them from their commitments.'
Iran Foreign Minister is in the New York to attend Review Conference of NPT which is held at five-year intervals at UN Headquarters to discuss the three major parts of the treaty and reach a final binding document.
Noting that most of the problems connected with the final document have not been solved yet, Zarif said Iran, as the chair-state of Non-Alignment Movement (NAM), will try to follow the positions of NAM which in many cases are the same as those of the Islamic Republic of Iran, IRNA reports.
He said the final document will be discussed considering the three main parts of the NPT which are nuclear disarmament, access to peaceful nuclear technologies, and finally prevention of nuclear proliferation.
Zarif said: Israel is the main impediment to the universality of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the single violator of the accord.
Israel is widely believed to be the sole possessor of a nuclear arsenal in the Middle East with up to 400 undeclared nuclear warheads. Tel Aviv has rejected global calls to join the NPT and does not allow international inspectors to observe its controversial nuclear program.
