The 16th Iran’s cinema celebration has closed the year’s programs with honoring the winners of its different categories.

A number of cinema officials and many cineastes attended the awards ceremony held in Tehran’s Milad Tower on September 13.

While the winners of several categories had received their awards three days ago, the other winners were honored during the closing ceremony yesterday.

The award for the Best Feature Film went to The Queen, directed by Mohammad Ali Basheh Ahangar. The movie scooped 10 awards of this year’s celebration.

Produced by Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation, the movie has been screened in several international film events and received awards such as the Jury Special Award at the 2013 Cyprus Film Days.

The Best Actress Award presented to Hengameh Qazyani for her film Days of Life.

Asghar Farhadi’s French-language drama The Past won the Best Screenplay Award of the event.

The organizers had earlier unveiled the names of several winners few days ago during a ceremony held at Iran’s House of Cinema in Tehran.

The best animation award was presented to the group of animators of All the Winters I Haven’t Seen and Best Director Award went to Omid Khoshnazar for the same animation.

The 16th Iran’s cinema celebration was held for public as well as cineastes to mark National Cinema Day, September 12.

While Iranian cineastes celebrated the event at Tehran’s Milad Tower, the organizers of this year’s edition presented programs for the public in several cities of Iran for the first time, said the executive director of the celebration Maziar Miri.

A number of movie theaters in Tehran, Mashhad, Qazvin, Isfahan, Shiraz and Ahvaz hosted the celebration programs.
