The United Nations aid agency for Palestinians has announced that three of its workers were killed by “incoming fire” in the Israeli-besieged Gaza, the first fatalities of UNRWA aid workers reported since the latest Israeli onslaught on the coastal strip began 17 days ago.
“Three UNRWA teachers killed in Gaza,” UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness tweeted Thursday. “My heart breaks for any humanitarian worker who pays the ultimate price, killed helping others.”
According to Gunness, two of teachers were killed while at their living quarters and a third died while walking home after working in an UNRWA shelter.
Meanwhile, UNRWA announced Thursday that 141,348 displaced people had sought shelter so far in more than 82 of the agency’s facilities in Gaza.
The death toll from the Zionist regime’s brutal offensive on Gaza has reached nearly 750, while the number of Israelis killed in and outside of the Gaza Strip has reportedly surpassed 50 as resistance fighters continue to strike at the intruding forces both within Gaza and in the occupied territories.
