According to al-Alam, Khaled Helal, the head of the al-Qaeda-linked Lawa ul Fath brigade was killed in clashes between Syrian government forces and armed terrorist groups in Houla District on Thursday.
Syrian army units have also driven out foreign-backed militant groups from al-Balat City in northern Latakia port city.
On Wednesday, the army killed a commander of al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front in the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr.
Abu Dajameh, who holds Emirati nationality, was killed in Deir Ezzor when his car was targeted by government forces near al-Saied hospital.
At least 20 other militants accompanying Abu Dajameh were also killed in the clashes.
