“It is funny to hear that those who gathered in Doha call themselves friends of Syria. If US, Britain, France and Qatar are friends of Syria then who are enemies of Syria?,” Sharif Shehadeh told al-Alam on Sunday.
He slammed the conference which was held in Qatari capital Doha on Friday and said those who seek interests of Syrian people spare no effort to bring all parties to negotiating table.
The conference came to terms to extend urgent military aid to the foreign-backed militants who have been conducting a bloody insurgency in Syria in more than two years.
“Friends have no plots in their minds for Syrian people but the 11 states that gathered in Qatar supported massacre of the innocent Syrian civilians,” he added.
The Syrian MP said participants at the conference discussed arming opposition forces, but the reality is that arming terrorists began right when the crisis started and now, they plan to hand over more advanced weapons to the enemies of Syrian nation.
He said despite massive support to the militants the Syrian army is strongly moving forward in its fight against terrorists.
Syria crisis started as pro-reform protests but with interventions from the United States and its regional allies it soon turned to a massive insurgency which took in numerous terrorist groups from all over Europe and Middle East to wage one of the bloodiest wars the region has ever experienced.
The war, which many fear is turning to a “war of hatred”, has already taken more than 90,000 lives.
