In an interview with the Qatari News Channel ‘Aljazeera’, Qaradawi said “these people (members of the MKO terror group) are poor and need help”.
The Mufti has repeatedly been deplored by scholars and activists for making provocative statements as far as issues of the Arab and Muslim countries are concerned, and for backing terrorists.
It is not the first time that Qaradawi openly voices support for this terrorist group which had been enjoying support from the deposed Ba’ath regime of Iraq, the U.S. and the Zionist regime to commit many crimes against Iranian and Iraqi people ever since it was founded.
Qaradawi’s remarks were in response to a request made by Sarmad Abdul Karim, the chief of the Ba’athist website of “Iraq-for-all”. Abdul Karim asked Qaradawi to declare his support for this terrorist group one more time.
Besides backing the MKO terrorist group, Qaradawi has also followed Qatari authorities in supporting foreign-backed armed terrorists, whose crimes are backed by the West and its regional allies, particularly Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey against the Syrian government.
In this regard, he has issued a religious verdict (fatwa) in which he considers foreign intervention and support for armed groups in Syria to be religiously lawful (Halal).
The Mofti’s declaration to support “the poor” comes while, since the beginning of Bahrainis’ peaceful revolution, he has described their pro-democracy demands as illegitimate and destructive.
