(irna) -- As a result of a major progress of the forces advancing on the axis of Tel al-Sawwaneh in eastern Homs northward, and those on the axis of al-Fasideh in the eastern Hama, a large area under the control of terrorist group ISIS was encircled by the Syrian forces, the sources said.
The main stronghold of the terrorist group in the area is Uqayrbat town in eastern countryside of Salamyia in Hama.
The achievement of the Syrian and Resistance forces also cut the main supply route joining the terrorists in Deir az Zor Province and the eastern parts of the two Provinces.
The state-run Syrian news agency, SANA, reported that army and resistance forces through a rapid operation, employing appropriate tactics in the eastern al-Salimiyeh, retaking 13 kilometers of a main road from ISIS.
The encircled area has long been occupied by the terrorist group.
Syria has been struggling with a war that began in 2011 with some extremist groups, supported by certain states of the region.
