A military source disclosed on Wednesday that the Army has dispatched hundreds of its special forces to Eastern Homs province to kick Takfiri terrorists out of the Syrian desert, and then, take part in an imminent operation against ISIS in Deir Ezzur.

(FNA) -- The source said that Damascus has sent hundreds of its elite forces to the Palmyra battlefront in Eastern Homs as Syrian soldiers are in the last stage of dislodging ISIS from the desert area.

The source went on to say that after completing the Syrian desert operation, the army soldiers will immediately move towards Deir Ezzur to launch an operation to remove the siege on the city and airbase.

The source further added that simultaneous anti-ISIS operations in Aleppo, Raqqa, Homs, Hama and Deir Ezzur provinces have significantly narrowed down ISIS's defense-attack capabilities, promising larger victories against terrorists in coming days.

Relevant reports said on Tuesday that the army units clashed with the ISIS terrorists Northeast of the wheat silos in Palmyra (Tadmur) and the surroundings of al-Tafheh hills and the outskirts of the village of Huweises in Eastern Homs where they engaged in heavy clashes, killing and injuring a large number of terrorists.

The Syrian fighter jets also targeted the military positions and movements of the ISIS in areas near al-Sukhnah, al-Tafheh, Huweises and Arak energy zone in Eastern Homs.

"During these operation tens of ISIS terrorists, including several foreign and Arab terrorists, were killed and their military convoy comprising several military vehicles were destroyed," a military source said.
