(MNA) -- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, visited Finland on Thursday at the invitation of Finnish Secretary of Foreign Affairs Peter Stenlund, and held talks with him on bilateral, regional and international issues.

During the meeting, Stenlund voiced his satisfaction over President Sauli Niinistö’s visit to Iran last year which resulted in signing of a number of documents for expansion of economic cooperation, adding “recently, we have signed an MoU on customs cooperation, and an agreement on air transport will be soon finalized and ready to be sealed between the two countries.”

He went on to add, “the Iran’s nuclear deal is a multilateral agreement and therefore, must be respected and complied by all sides.”

“European officials have shown their full resolve and keen interest in preserving and implementing the JCPOA,” he stressed, adding “Finland will extend full support to expansion of cooperation and transactions between Iran and the European Union.”

The Iranian diplomat, for his part, hailed the visit of the Finnish President to Iran last year, expressing hope for further delegation exchange at higher political, parliamentary and economic levels.

The two sides also conferred on the latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan. They underscored the need for a common diplomatic solution, providing humanitarian aid and refraining from unilateral actions to settle regional crises.

Takht-Ravanchi is also scheduled to hold talks with a number of economic, trade, banking and financial officials in Helsinki.
