The Syrian Arab Army stepped up their military operations in the Wadi Barada area of rural Damascus on Tuesday, targeting the terrorists defenses at the town of Bassima.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Armed Forces have seized almost all the farms near the town of Bassima, killing and wounding several militants in the process of this advance on Tuesday.

The offensive was launched on December 24 after Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) militants refused to leave the area disarmed.

The Syrian government forces had initially offered the militants a safe passage to the Idlib Governorate, which came as part of a ceasefire deal that involved the evacuation of civilians and disarmed militants.

Since the start of the new offensive, the SAA has reportedly made advances in the area, resulting in the capture of two strategic points in the Wadi Barada district.
