The Army men repelled ISIS attacks on government forces' positions in the neighborhoods of al-Huweiqa, al-Roshdiyeh, al-Mowazafin, al-Maqaber, near Deir Ezzur airbase, Tal (hill) al-Rawad, Panorama region and Tal Um Aboud, killing a number of militants and destroying their equipment.
Ahmad al-Dayeri also known as Abu Ayesha was killed in the failed attack of ISIL in the al-Mowazafin and al-Maqaber.
The army forces also targeted the positions and gatherings of ISIL in the neighborhoods of al-Jabileh, airbase and al-Jazeera university in the villages of al-Baqaliyeh, killing or wounding a number of them.
Reports said on Saturday that the ISIL's failed attack on the Syrian army positions near Deir Ezzur airport left 27 militants dead and tens of others wounded.
The ISIL terrorists launched massive strikes against the Syrian troops' positions in al-Jafra district in the Southeastern parts of Deir Ezzur adjacent to the city's graveyard using mortars and light and heavy weapons.
The militants could initially open their way into a few areas but the army and tribal forces in Deir Ezzur could launch counterattacks against them, killing 27 ISIL terrorists and wounding dozens of others, forcing the remaining militants to leave the region.
The terrorists sought to occupy the graveyard to come in control of a road linking the center of Deir Ezzur city to the airport in a later phase of their attacks, but failed, FNA reported.
