According to KUNA news agency, the resignation was submitted by Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah during a reception at Bayan Palace.

"As the elections of 15th legislative term were transparently and impartially held and all results were officially announced, I in accordance with the 57 Article of the Constitution submit the government's resignation to your Highness," Jaber said in a letter cited by media outlet.

A new prime minister will be chosen from the members of the ruling dynasty and appointed by the Kuwaiti Emir.

On Saturday, the Kuwaitis participated in the snap parliamentary elections, held after Emir of Kuwait dissolved the parliament amid "volatile regional conditions and mounting security challenges.

" The representatives of Islamist, nationalist and liberal opposition movements secured at least 15 seats in the 50-member parliament, while their allies had won between seven and 10 more seats.

Only 20 members of the previous parliament succeeded in entering the new parliament, while 22 lawmakers failed to do so and eight more had not participated in the vote.
