ISIS (ISIL, IS, Daesh) terrorists have deployed suicide car bombs and fired mortar rounds to slow down the advance of Iraqi troops outside a key town near the militant-held city of Mosul, AP reported.
Major Salam al-Obeidi said the special forces were undertaking cleanup operations on Wednesday in areas retaken from the terrorists to the east of the city.
He said troops had uncovered a vast tunnel network used by ISIS to shuttle fighters and supplies by motorcycle.
