Calmness was seen on the streets of the village of Faziliya, near Bashiqa on Monday, a day after Kurdish Peshmerga forces recaptured City and launched a new offensive on two fronts in the area, to the northeast of Mosul.
Over the last week, Iraqi and Kurdish forces have been battling the Islamic State group (ISIS, ISIL, IS and Daesh) in a belt of mostly uninhabited towns and villages around Mosul, contending with roadside bombs, snipers and suicide truck bombs.
Bashiqa is close to a military base of the same name where some 500 Turkish troops Stationed.
