Peshmerga soldiers were battling Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) terrorist group fighters north of Kirkuk on Saturday, a day after dozens of ISIS group fighters stormed the northern Iraqi city, killing at least 80 people, mainly security forces.
In footage shot by a peshmerga soldier on the frontline and made available Al-Alam News Network, peshmerga soldiers are seen firing and taking cover during battle.
As they meet with pockets of resistance, one soldier is seen moving across the ground with his leg soaked in blood.
Kirkuk is some 170 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Mosul, where a massive operation aimed at retaking the country’s second largest city from the ISIS terrorist group is underway.
