Backed by several pro-government units, including the Syrian National Defense Forces (NDF) and Syrian Social Nationalist Party fighters (SSNP), the Syrian Armed Forces stormed the Islamic State's (ISIS, ISIL , IS and Daesh) defenses near the strategic hilltop of Tal Sawwan in the northeastern countryside of Homs.
Following a series of intense firefights, the Syrian Armed Forces established control over several hilltops and points located between Jabal Al-Sha'er and Tal Sawwan.
On Wednesday morning, the Syrian Armed Forces continued its offensive, attacking the ISIS-controlled checkpoints located just west of the Al Shaer Gas Fields; these clashes are still ongoing.
The main objective of this northeastern Homs offensive is to recapture Jabal Al Shaer and establish control over the northern road to Palmyra (Tadmur).
