H-6K is a medium- and long-range bomber entirely designed and made in China. It is mainly used for long-range precision strikes and tactical bombing missions.
The H-6K bombers flew four times out of the first island chain and reached the Western Pacific for military exercises, and also joined China's V-Day Military Parade in 2015.
They also conducted combat patrol in the South China Sea in 2016 to defend national sovereignty, security and maritime rights and interests.
Meanwhile, the H-6K bomber also participated in air patrol of the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
Compared with the old version H-6 Strategic Bomber, H-6K bomber has had its engine replaced with more advanced turbofan engine, fire-control system renewed, with more external fuel tanks.
“It also has improved ejection seat, meter display, air system and telecommunication system. It has also upgraded its bomb load capacity, night flying capabilities and long-rang ground strike capabilities,”Yang Yong, deputy captain of an aerobatics team of China's Air Force.
The aviation open activity, which started on Friday, was held to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Old Northeast Aviation School.
