Footage on social media showed smoke billowing from the aircraft but the government said all the passengers were evacuated safely.

Dubai Media Office said the plane was coming from India, adding it was involved in an “accident” while landing.  

"All passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported so far," it said on its Twitter account.

Dubai authorities declared an emergency situation, saying all departure flights from the airport have been delayed until further notice.
