ISIS terrorists raided dozens of houses in Mosul city earlier this week, and arrested a number of people suspected of cooperating with Iraqi forces.
“The group claimed that after interrogations, 20 of the arrestees have been involved in supporting the Peshmerga forces and the western coalition” head of Nineveh media centre Raafat al-Zarari said.
The victims were publicly executed in central Mosul on Friday afternoon, after a Sharia official read a statement describing them as “apostates, mercenaries and spies who deserved death”,ABNA reports.
"“Families of the victims were also forced to joined the crowd and witness the brutal scene,” al-Malla reported. “They were executed by firing squad at the hands of masked ISIS militants.”"
“ISIS militants called on the people of Mosul to gather in the central square in order to witness the execution of what the group said were mercenaries and enemies of the Caliphate,” media activist Abdullah al-Malla said in Mosul.
Mosul city, which is considered ISIS capital in Iraq, has recently witnessed several campaigns of arrest and public executions. Most of the victims were civilians and media activists who have been accused of violating the group’s regulations or supporting hostile parties.
