General Mohammad Hossein Rajabi, commander of IRGC in the province of Kurdistan, said members of the intruding team were killed after ten days of manhunt in the province.
The anti-revolutionary militants were led into the Koohsalan region in Sarvabad county, and the IRGC provincial forces killed all the 11 members of the team in an encounter after blocking their way, he added.
According to the general, three local troopers of the IRGC were martyred in the operation.
The incident follows a series of recent operations against armed groups in the border areas.
A few days ago, the IRGC announced that a fighting between its forces and a group of armed outlaws on June 24 night had left 5 mobsters killed, including two ringleaders.
That operation occurred in Mahabad border region in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan.
According to the statement, the clash between troops from the IRGC Hamze Sayyid al Shohada Base and the armed outlaws affiliated with anti-revolutionary groups led to the killing of 5 “mercenaries of the global arrogance”, including two of their commanders, named Arash Menbari and Shooresh Menbari.
Moreover, a large amount of weapons, ammunition and other equipment were confiscated from the outlaws in the operation, it added.
The statement also noted that the IRGC servicemen did not suffer any casualties.
