Iraqi Brigadier General and spokesman for the Interior Ministry Saad Maan said that some of the detainees at the Habanniyah Police Directorate "have confessed that they have ties to Daesh," an acronym for the militant group, AP reports.
The arrests came after the city of Fallujah was "fully liberated" from ISIS on Sunday, according to a senior Iraqi commander, after a more than month long military operation.
Juma Ifan, Fallujah resident detained by Iraqi forces says : '' They (the Iraqi troops) have brought me here for questioning. And each person affiliated to Daesh should be punished according to law. And those who are not affiliated to the extremists should be freed. The security troops and police treat us well.''
Also Iraqi Popular Forces from Badr brigades discovered ISIL's mortar workshop in a civilian house and a public school that was turned into IED factory by the militants near Northern Fallujah, photos released by FNA.
Tens of thousands of people have fled the fighting, overwhelming camps for the displaced run by the government and aid groups.
Fallujah, which is located about 40 miles (65 kilometers) west of Baghdad in Anbar province, was the first city to fall to ISIS, in January 2014.
