Iraqi military troops and the Popular Mobilisation Forces, a Shiite militia group, also known as Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi took part in an operation to retake Fallujah from Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh) militants on Tuesday.
Video released by the Popular Mobilisation Forces and believed to be filmed on Tuesday from a position held by Shiite militia, plumes of smoke billowing in the distance from strikes on enemy positions and militia troops with armored vehicles.
The militia, along with the government forces, are fighting the ISIS group, who has held Fallujah for more than two years.
On Tuesday, Iraqi forces repelled a four-hour attack by the Islamic State (Daesh / ISIS) group in the city's south, a day after first moving into the southern edges of the militant-held city with the help of US-led coalition airstrikes.
Fallujah, 65 kilometers (40 miles) west of Baghdad, is the last major city in western Iraq still under control of the Sunni extremist group.
