A warehouse storing chemicals and fuel caught fire and exploded on Friday in a County-level city of Jingjiang, which is under the administration of the city of Taizhou, in east China's Jiangsu Province, the local government and media reports said, but no casualties were reported.
State broadcaster CCTV showed footage of fire and black smoke, saying that seven to ten hours were still needed for the fire to fully burn out even though it was under control. CCTV said the chemical storage facility in Jingjiang city, part of Jiangsu province, and caught fire after an explosion at about 9:40 a.m. (0140 GMT) earlier in the day. More than 90 fire engines and 500 firefighters were on the scene trying to put out the fire. CCTV said an investigation was underway. China has vowed to improve industrial safety standards after chemical blasts in the Chinese port city of Tianjin last August killed 165 people, Reuters reported.
