"Terrorist groups are breaking the ceasefire in Syria at the orders of Turkey and Saudi Arabia," Muallem said.

He underlined that the militants continue to stage attacks on government positions in a bid to ruin the upcoming peace talks.

"Syria is still committed to dialogue without preconditions, Muallem said, adding, "The government will continue its efforts to reach a political solution in the UN-sponsored talks slated to begin on April 15.

The terrorists have violated the ceasefire in Syria several times in the provinces of Lattakia, Homs and Hama, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

"Two cases of the violation of ceasefire by the terrorist groups occurred in the coastal province of Lattakia, one in Hama province and one more in the Central province of Homs," the ministry said.

A report said on Thursday that the Syrian army backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) started military operations to cut the main supply route of the militants along a strategic road in Lattakia.

"If they manage to cut the road (linking Al-Hanboushiyah and Nariyah) in Jabal Turkmen, the Takfiri terrorists will be forced to find another route to transport their supplies through," a source said.

He said that the Syrian forces are "trying to cut off the main supply route from Turkey".

Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the ceasefire in Syria on February 22. The ceasefire took effect at midnight on February 27, Damascus time (22:00 GMT on February 26). The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the Russia-US agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria on February 26, shortly before the ceasefire came into force.

The cessation of hostilities does not apply to designated terrorist groups operating in Syria, including ISIS (also known as Daesh) and Jabhat al-Nusra (Nusra Front), a group affiliated with al-Qaeda, FNA reported.
