61 Percent Turnout in Iran Elections by Pictures

Iran's interior minister said on Saturday that turnout in Friday's parliament and Assembly of Experts elections was higher than 61 percent.

The elections to fill the 290 seats in parliament and 88 seats in the Assembly of Experts were the first since Iran reached a nuclear deal with six major powers last year.

"Over 61 percent of Iran's eligible voters cast vote on Friday, however, the exact number will be announced later," Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli told a news conference, broadcast live on state TV.

 

 

Hossein-Ali Amiri

Iran’s Interior Ministry spokesman Hossein-Ali Amiri has said on Saturday morning that Out of around 52,000 ballot boxes, more than 40,000 have been examined and early results from Friday’s parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections show that more than 33 million people have voted until this time.
