VIDEO: Belgian Police Arrest Six People over New Year Terror Plot

Belgian police have detained six people in Brussels and in the province of Flemish Brabant on Thursday. They were accused of plotting terrorist attacks in the Belgian capital during the New Year holidays, the Prosecutor General's office said.

Earlier in the day, seven searches took place in several municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region and in the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, the prosecutor general's office said.

Six persons were detained for questioning, the prosecutor general's office added. An investigating officer is due to decide on their further detention later in the day.

During the searches on Sunday and Monday, Belgian police arrested two people suspected of planning an attack on New Year's Eve and seized terrorists propaganda materials and military-type uniforms, sputnik reported.
