Last week’s international talks on the Syrian crisis in Vienna was the best way of bringing peace to the country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday at a meeting with UN envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura; Sputnik reported.
"Vienna format was almost a perfect format for multilateral efforts for Syrian settlement and we want to anchor that," Lavrov said in Moscow.
Lavrov and de Mistura met in Vienna last week for a two-day talks on Syria, where a four-year-old civil war has killed around 250,000 people.
The talks in the Austrian capital was attended by top diplomats from the United States, China, Iran, as well as EU and regional countries.
Following the meetings in Vienna, Lavrov said that negotiators had agreed to hold further consultations.
