Russian jets hit 40 ISIS targets in new strikes in Syria over the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said on Wednesday.
"From the Hmeimim air base the crews of Su-34, Su-24M and Su-25SM warplanes carried out 41 sorties against 40 targets of the ISIS terrorist infrastructure in Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Hama and Deir Ezzor," ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.
Russia launched its first airstrikes against Takfiri terrorists in Syria on September 30, hours after the upper house of the Russian parliament gave President Vladimir Putin the mandate to use the air force in the Arab country.
According to the Russian military, all targets of the air raids are chosen based on intelligence gathered by the four participants in the information center; AFP reported.
